Scopello

Not very far from San Vito Lo Capo, the small seaside village of Scopello is the obligatory stop on every holiday. The village is a place that seems to have stood still in time, where life flows slowly and the streets smell of pane cunzato, a specialty of the area.

The stacks that rise in a clear and uncontaminated sea, majestic, are covered by dense vegetation and the seabed rich in fish. In the background the famous tuna fishery of Scopello, which was owned by the Florios for a time, and which today houses a diving center. Next to the tonnara there is a small and intimate concrete platform that allows access to the sea, also suitable for the little ones.

Moving your gaze above the tonnara, you can admire two towers, the Torre Doria and the Torre Bennistra, built for defensive purposes. The view as a whole is very romantic indeed.

Inside it houses, in addition to various ecosystems, the Tonnara di Cofano, the Torre di Tono and the Torre di San Giovanni, the Chapel of the SS. Crucifix and the “Grotta del Crocifisso”.

The rugged and steep rocky walls are reflected and thrown into the crystal clear waters forming suggestive coves and the green of the Mediterranean scrub becomes one with the many shades of blue of the sea.

On the slopes of the mountain, there is the Cornino beach with its deep and clear waters. The depths here hide real treasures, such as the Stella Maris.
